As of June 30th 2008, Microsoft will no longer be selling Windows XP in favor of their latest operating system Windows Vista. This does not mean that Windows XP will no longer be available; however, it will become increasingly harder to find as software vendors and computer manufacturers stop carrying it.
What does this mean for you? For a period of time computers with Windows XP will still be available direct from software suppliers and system builders, so if you are looking to replace any existing workstations or add more computers to your network the time to do so is certainly now. Windows Vista user satisfaction rates are increasing, but are still far below those of the familiar and reliable Windows XP which has yet to be adopted by most businesses. Microsoft will continue releasing security updates for Windows until April 2009 so there will be no major need to upgrade your Windows XP computer for at least another year.
What this all means is if you are interested in buying a new computer that still has Windows XP on it, call ICS Solutions now because after June 30th we will have a more difficult time finding computers with Windows XP.
